Biography:

Irene Tung earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from UCLA in 2018. Herresearch examines the impact of early stress exposure on the development and intergenerational transmission of emotion dysregulation and externalizing behaviors. Her current work focuses on pregnancy as a key developmental period for interrupting the intergenerational cycle of risk. Dr. Tung is currently completing a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, where she is supported by a NIH-NIAAA institutional training grant (T32) and gaining specialized training in prenatal health behaviors and physiological mechanisms of stress.

In addition to her research activities, Dr. Tung specializes in evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents with disruptive behavior problems. She has previous experience delivering clinical treatments in a range of outpatient, inpatient, and school-based community mental health settings, including Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic/University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), UCLA Semel Institute, UCLA TIES for Families, and Providence St. John’s Child and Family Development Center.
